I was passing by GMA yesterday when I saw the billboard ad for the Pinoy version of “My Name is Kim Sam Soon.” I have to squint my eyes (I was in a bus, if you are from the Philippines, you know what I mean) to see who will play the title character. I was a bit distracted by the pastry. Ha ha. Anyhoo, passing the GMA network by MRT then I was able to see who will be the lead. It will be…Regine Velasquez. Eng?
I don’t know if this was a portent of things to come, Maybe from below, I need to squint as I feel that she looks like she couldn’t pull this off. I mean, the character was tattoed on Kim Sun Ah’s quirky character and somehow, knowing Asia’s Songbird’s roles before this project, I am like..ho-hum. I don’t mean to hate but c’mon. Apart from “Wanted Perfect Mother” where the kids acted rings around her, I really don’t know if she did quirky characters. She was always half-glamorous. If you can outsing half the “divas” in this country, somehow you can’t shake of the glam anyway. If this is a political move for GMA (there were rumors she was leaving the network), I’d be so sad if this show bombed. Like what I have been saying for the longest time, we need more comedies in our primetime.
From the billboard, I have seen that Mark Anthony Fernandez and Wendell Ramos will also be in it. Well, I find Mark boring. Talented, but boring so I guess he will be promising as Hyung Bin. Nevertheless, I need a requisite shirtless scene from Wendell. Ha ha. I have Enchong Dee in My Girl and Wendell Ramos in Kim Sam Soon. Now, I have something to look forward to, at least.

im not a fan of mark anthony but im drooling over wendell harharhar nwey, funny si regine sa “till i met you”, maraming scenes na napatawa niya ako. deglamorized siya sa role and i hope they do the same in kim sam soon.

i think i need to see that movie. i don’t really like to judge but she’s too high profile. thanks for the tip though! i am still looking forward to this show.
