This episode proves how the show has gone so far. The sweetness and the quirkiness were blended in such a way that makes the Korean dramas work, as far as I can see that is.

When Julian discovered Jasmine’s deception regarding the jewelry she pawned to pay for her father’s bail, he sent her packing. In despair more from the failed “date” than the argument, I assume, Jasmine was sad for most of the day and she was comforted by her two best friends. She was also brought back in the tour guide business. There was a scene where the three tour guides brought the tourists to a local ukay-ukay (thrift clothing store) and a requisite outfit changes’ scene. It was fun because the three actors were able to pull it off although the punchline was a bit cheesy. Then again, I watch these shows not expecting an exhortation of the classics, so it’s ok in a way.

Soon the fun has to stop because Jasmine received the news that her father ran away (again!) so she rushed to the bus station in the hopes of catching him. When she wasn’t able to, she slumped in the corner and cried her eyes out. Enter Julian, who like any dramatic leading man, took the sobbing Jasmine in his arms. And as we all drama watchers know, the scene showed as if their entire world was oblivious in a riotous spin.

Whenever I see a scene like this, I always remember that scene from the kdrama My Last Scandal, where they showed how they would usually shoot a scene like this, the cameramen were the ones circling around the couple and at one point in that scene one camera guy tripped. Of course that show was also a comedy so the scene was like that. Nevertheless, such as a scene in most dramas never brought me the same “kilig” feeling that it should elicit after that.

At least for a moment my cynicism was turned off with this episode, though. I could never understand the impact of love teams, and I guess I’ll never do but these two are really good together on screen. It was simple and well, “kilig”. Sure after the “big hug,” there will be a buzz kill afterwards. Back to their fighting form, Jasmine went back to her friend’s house but she was next seen drinking bottles after bottles of beer.

My two favorite characters were in this episode as well. Kaye Brosas, a hot beeyotch, was nagging her erstwhile wandering son Nico on the phone. Incidentally, hold your breath for this, he was in the same bar where our dear girl is drinking herself to death. Happy to see him, Jasmine told him the reason for her drinking. Confronted by the fact that he will never loved by her, the usual cheery and eloquent Nico was crestfallen. This scene was one of the best I’ve seen so far. Sure, these actors were not really the best in terms of acting but they were able to pull what they got. And I am happy with that.

I can’t seem to split hairs on this episode. It was the best one I have seen so far. I am also enjoying Cathy Gonzaga’s craziness, the girl is growing on me. Kim Chiu is taking the sob route as her character asks of her but it does not really takes away her cuteness when the scene requires. Kaye Brosas, still not the best kontrabida, I feel that Mylene Dizon in Dyesebel makes me want to throw things at her direction. I want to trade makeup secrets with Kaye. Nevertheless, we enjoy what we have.

As for the men, or the boys, Enchong Dee’s character is still as shallow as a dish, his transition from the playboy, happy-go-lucky to lovesick boy is a fun to watch. I rarely get distracted with pretty boys, but this one is really cutie though. As for Gerald, he must be doing some good things because the chemistry he has with Kim Chiu is the only thing that is saving him from my wrath or worse, indifference.

All in all, another satisfying episode. There should be some big dramatic turn in the coming episodes and in more ways than one, we will see if our Pinoy counterparts will be able to set this one to go.
